Lee St. Aubin, AIA

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Little Chute, Wisconsin, but spent most of my summers and most weekends “Up North” at my family’s cottage in Oconto County.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Spending time with family and friends. My hobbies include cooking, remodeling projects around my house, and spending time outdoors. I am drawn to activities that require a certain amount of precision like archery, marksmanship and hand loading ammunition, flying, and woodworking.

If you couldn’t be in your current role, what would be your alternate career?

I think I would have enjoyed life in the military, perhaps in the army medical corps helping wounded soldiers.

What’s your pet peeve?

Rap music, Facebook, Political ads, and people who drive in the left hand lane. I also have a disdain for politician’s who waste tax payers’ dollars by creating common sense laws like mandatory seat belts. What’s next?  A $10 fine for running with a scissors in my hand?

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

There are a lot of places still on my bucket list that I haven’t been to yet… like Europe, Australia, and Hawaii. Of the places I’ve been, I think it really depends upon the time of year. There is no place more beautiful than the Alaskan Tundra in the fall, southern Utah (Grand Staircase) in the spring, and northern Wisconsin in the summer.

What’s your favorite food?

I like variety and really do not have any particular favorite entrées. I enjoy Cajun, Mexican, Italian and Chinese cuisines, but my weakness is fresh baked (still warm) chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk.

What is your favorite band/singer/song?

I have no single favorite style or artist. I listen to everything from rock to country to smooth Jazz to Bluegrass to folk. It really depends upon my mood. Some of my favorite artists are Dave Matthews, David Benoit, Dave Koz, Bob James, Andy McKee, Chris Botti, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Nickel Creek, Zac Brown, among many others.

What’s your favorite movie?

I lean towards military history/action movies, Band of Brothers, Gettysburg, that sort of thing. The first movie I had ever seen in a theatre was The Sound of Music when I was 4 or 5 years old. I still watch it every now and then and still want to shoot the TV when the nun sing’s “Climb Every Mountain”.

What are some things most people don’t know about you?

I enjoy challenging myself.  My motto is the JFK phrase, I choose to do these things, “not because they are easy, but because they are hard”.  Some of my most rewarding experiences in life include earning my private pilot’s license, designing and building all the custom cabinetry in my home, raising three children, 2 dogs and a cat, and staying happily married for 25 years. Ok, cats are not very challenging.

What’s your favorite part about working at Baisch?

I really enjoy working with the people here at Baisch and getting to know them on a personal level.  I am very fortunate to work with a very talented and diverse group of people and they never cease to amaze me with their abilities.  I also enjoy the challenge of working on complex projects.

What are you working on right now – or is it confidential?

Wrapping up odds and ends for Wausau Paper – Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and a few smaller, miscellaneous projects for Georgia-Pacific in Neenah, Wisconsin.
