I grew up in Northwest Indiana in the small town of Dyer. It’s basically a southeast suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
I have two young daughters so there is a lot of running around with them; but, when possible, I love to get out into my garden, cook, knit, or woodwork.
Definitely, I’d be a chef. I have a culinary arts degree, and my husband and children would agree that it is put to good use in the evenings and weekends.
Filling out questionnaires.
Seriously though, I can’t stand people who can’t take a joke or laugh at themselves. Stop taking yourself so seriously, people. Life is short; enjoy it and have fun!
My father-in-law’s house in Florida. He’s on a canal on the gulf, has a lanai and pool, and mango and avocado trees. Plus, when we arrive after travelling all day with two small children, he puts a cocktail in our hands as a greeting and tells us to change into our swimsuits while he tends to the girls. You can’t find that at any resort!
I have to pick just one? Then it has to be chocolate – in any form. If you have never had “dark milk chocolate” (milk chocolate with >60% cacao) I suggest you try it. Nirvana.
I like music in general. I can’t even name a favorite genre! It really depends on my mood. If I want to be mellow I might listen to Norah Jones. If I really need to concentrate and want something in the background, I’ll put on some classical. If I’m feeling nostalgic I put on 80s and early 90s pop and hip-hop. Then there are sometimes I need Drowning Pool and System of a Down to rage along with me. Mostly I listen to rock and all of the subgenres that fall under it.
I lean towards comedies but can’t pick a single favorite. Of course as an “enginerd” you know I love my sci-fi and fantasy as well. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies – funny sci-fi/fantasy movies with great soundtracks – soar right to the top of the list!
I was in the opening ceremonies of the 1994 FIFA World Cup that were held at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, but no matter how many bulbs I plant, they never come up.
The people here are good people – and by that I mean, nearly everyone would be willing to help you out not only at work but outside of work too. Sometimes it’s literally right outside of work – like when I had a flat tire on my car when I left work one evening. I had barely opened my trunk when three coworkers came up and took the spare and jack out of it and changed my tire for me.
I’m finishing up a machine rebuild project and rolling into a new tissue machine building design.
