No. 14 Tissue Machine and Deinked Fiber Plant

Essity Professional Hygiene (previously SCA Americas) – Cherokee, Alabama

Baisch first worked for Essity as a sub-contractor on a segment of an earlier large project. Essity then selected Baisch to provide preliminary and final feasibility studies for this large tissue project. We were then selected for the detailed process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and process control/instrumentation project engineering as well. The project included waste paper storage, a waste paper deink plant feeding a new 200 inch, 70,000 tons per year dry crepe tissue machine, roll handling after the machine, and all buildings and utilities. Baisch engineered the site work and also had a large involvement in selecting equipment, purchasing, and field liaison including commissioning, check-out, and start-up.

The project engineering included a novel and creative building design which enabled a two-month reduction in project time and a significant improvement in project costs.

Baisch has provided engineering services to Essity for many large projects.
