As summer comes to a close, we are celebrating the contributions of our interns who brought fresh energy, curiosity, and hard work to the Baisch team. In return, they gained valuable hands-on experience that goes beyond the classroom and into the world of real engineering and business. Here are a few key lessons they’re taking with them.
Working with People Matters as Much as Working with Numbers
Engineering is more than equations—it’s collaboration. Our interns learned how to work as part of a team, ask the right questions, and lean on the expertise of others to move projects forward.
Turning Theory into Practice
From calculating pump flows and pipe sizing to applying classroom concepts in real-world settings, our interns got the chance to see their college knowledge in action. The work they did wasn’t just theoretical—it contributed directly to ongoing projects.
Tools of the Trade: Autodesk, CRM and more
Hands-on experience with design software like Autodesk and CRM programs helped them understand how their work impacted real projects. Learning these tools sharpened their technical skills and gave them a stronger foundation for future work.
Communication and Accountability Are Key
Whether updating a lead on progress, clarifying design requirements, or following up on tasks, interns saw first-hand how important it is to communicate clearly and take ownership for their work.
The Full Process
From kickoff discussions to drawings, calculations, reviews, and revisions, interns gained a big-picture understanding of what it takes to bring a project from concept to completion.
Preparation Pays Off
Showing up ready—with notes, background research, or questions—proved to be one of the most important habits they could build.
Check and Double Check
Attention to detail matters. Our interns quickly learned that double-checking (and even triple-checking) details saves time, avoids costly mistakes, and ensures accuracy throughout the design process.
This summer wasn’t just about building technical skills—it was about developing the habits, confidence, and teamwork that make great employees. We’re proud of what our interns accomplished and excited to see where their careers take them next.
